It is with the greatest pleasure that I refer you to Samantha Goldberg of Gold Events!! Samantha worked with us in planning our daughter’s wedding, which took place in December 2005.
Our daughter and future son-in-law were 27 and 30, respectively, when they were married. They had very definite ideas about what they wanted for every phase of their wedding weekend and had done a great deal of research and work before we hired Samantha. Although the bride and groom are extremely capable individuals, I had really wanted another person involved with the wedding details who would keep us all on track and was familiar with all that has to be done in planning a wedding. Also, because my mom is quite ill, I wanted there to be someone at the helm (other than I) who could lead my daughter and future son-in-law through the wedding maze, if I were called away for an extended time.
Our daughter found Samantha and her company, Gold Events, while doing some research on-line to find a wedding planner, which had been my suggestion and request. I wanted this to be someone with whom both our daughter and I could relate well and who would be very savvy in all areas of wedding planning. What a wonderful find our daughter made when she found Samantha’s listings! Despite the fact that the 3 of us were located in 3 different states, we communicated constantly by phone and e-mail, and our daughter and I had solid relationships with Samantha before we ever met her in person. (It was very helpful that Samantha and our daughter both lived relatively close to the wedding venue --- Brooklyn, NY --- and I came in when necessary [only twice]. Samantha’s being in the area allowed her to do some important legwork.)
I can say -- without reservation -- that hiring Samantha to assist us was the very best decision and investment we made in the entire wedding planning process!! Her great help ranged from negotiating prices with vendors (restaurant, hotel, band, photographer, videographer, etc.) to providing us with many of the sources and doing the ordering for much of what was needed for the wedding, including invitations, place cards, menu cards and gift bags and their contents. She always solicited our suggestions, provided us with options and never imposed her own preferences. Yet, if I wanted advice, Samantha was always willing to talk and give me her honest and helpful opinion. Samantha has had a great deal of experience in planning weddings and working with families, and both were very evident. She has a wealth of information and resources to draw upon, helping with both the practical and emotional needs of the event and the family. Her skills as a very smart businesswoman shone constantly, and she looked for every opportunity to save us money (managing to save us over $6,000!). Those talents and being an empathetic listener and friend to her clients made her a wonderful partner in the wedding planning process. In addition, Samantha’s capable assistant, Melissa, was a great help to us as well.

Samantha’s help, at our request, extended to her personal involvement at all of the wedding weekend events. Therefore, not only did she help with the organization AND the details prior to the wedding but was available to direct, assist, listen and handle details throughout the weekend, making the events occasions for all of us to enjoy.
Most importantly, Samantha is extremely personable, and her ever-cheerful disposition made all of the necessary phone conversations and discussions a truly positive experience. She was always available by phone or e-mail and was wonderfully conscientious about keeping in touch and responding to every query and concern. There are so many precious details that Samantha helped us work out that it would take hours and pages to go into everything; I know I've only scratched the surface in what I've mentioned here. Bottom line: Samantha made this whole experience work for me. Planning a wedding is a hectic, time-consuming project for everyone involved, and, as mother-of-the-bride, I feel SO fortunate to have had Samantha by our side every step of the way. She is a treasure!!
